7 Get-off-the-Couch Reasons to Exercise

Looking for one magic bullet when it comes to being healthy, happy, and wise? It's exercise.

The next time you think, "I'll go to the gym later", read this list of research proven facts to remind yourself why you want to get off the couch and exercise today!

Reason #1

Working out helps you LOSE WEIGHT, increases your resting metabolism, and burns calories. It protects you from bone and muscle loss that could result if you just used diet alone to lose weight.

Reason #2

Exercise IMPROVES YOUR SEX LIFE! Isn't that good news? We all know physical activity strengthens your cardiovascular system. One study found women who exercised vigorously before watching erotic films had a better vaginal response compared with when they didn't exercise.

Reason #3

Those who exercise HAVE MORE ENERGY than those who don't exercise. I see this all the time with my patients. And there are over 50 research studies that demonstrate this fact!

Studies show that those who work out GET BETTER SLEEP and experience less insomnia than those who sit on the couch not doing anything! Getting a good night's rest is one of the best things you can do for yourself to improve your overall health.

Walking just 30 minutes a day for five days per week can INCREASE YOUR LIFE SPAN by over 1 year. If you add running to your active lifestyle, it can add up to 4 years. Studies show it is never to late too increase your longevity.

My clinical experience working with patients shows that exercise can be more effective than drugs in treating depression. Working out CUTS THE SYMPTOMS OF MILD DEPRESSION nearly in half. You may not feel like going to exercise, but after you do, you will feel better because of all of the endorphins released.
